About the company: Rusk has been identified with the daily diet of the Cretans, which is why the Cretans' relationship with rusk is special. From 1948 to 1957, the traditional diet in Crete was not subject to external influences. A few years later, after studies carried out in Crete, the results of the World Health Organization shouted loudly 'The healthiest people in the world live in Crete'. It is now known that, this amazing finding was attributed to the traditional pure diet of the Cretans which contains vegetables, fruits, legumes, bread and especially rusk. Nuts were stored in pots and were never missing from the Cretan table. The basic types of nuts are: Kritina, Sikaleos and Starenia.

This is how in 1958 our own tradition started from grandfather George Maragakis, and in the course of time the tradition was taken over by the only child of the family Maragakis Emmanuel. Now the reins of the business, as the third generation, has taken over the younger Maragkakis George.

Instructions: Create you own Cretan 'Dakos'.  Lightly wet the paximádi with water and serve with tomato, onion, feta, olive oil and spices (preferably oregano).
