Vergina Premium Lager is a 0.33L bottled lager brewed by Macedonian Thrace Brewery in Komotini, Greece. It is made with water, barley malt, hops and yeast, following the Reinheitsgebot standard for European lagers. The barley malt used comes from Greek-grown barley, processed at the brewery's own malting plant. It is a straightforward, clean-tasting lager suited for everyday drinking and general on-trade use.

About the company

Macedonian Thrace Brewery was founded in 1996 by Demetri Politopoulos, a Greek-American who set out to produce a fully Greek-made beer. The company is based in the industrial area of Komotini, a location chosen for the quality of its water supply. Starting in 2006, the brewery began contracting local farmers to grow malting barley, and by 2019 this program covered more than 35,000 acres across Macedonia and Thrace. It later opened Thracian Malt, the first malting plant built by Greek interests, which lets the brewery produce beer using 100% Greek barley malt and manage the full production chain in-house. The company also operates branches in Athens and Thessaloniki.

Instructions

Serve chilled, between 2 and 4°C, poured into a glass with a head. Some retailers recommend using a tall, frozen glass to bring out the beer's flavor. It pairs well with grilled meat, barbecue, pizza, cheeses and deli meats, and works as an accompaniment to traditional Greek dishes. Store at ambient temperature before chilling for serving.
