Safe Handling Guidelines for Dry Ice
At Bakaliko, we understand how important it is for our customers to receive their frozen products in perfect condition. This is why when we ship your order via external partners (e.g. Trunkrs) and if your order contains frozen products, we use dry ice sachets to ensure that your products remain frozen throughout the entire transport.

Handling a Package that Contains Dry Ice
When you receive a package from Bakaliko containing bags of dry ice, it is important to handle it with care. Dry ice is extremely cold and can cause frostbite if it comes into contact with your skin, so it is important to wear gloves or use a towel when removing the bags from the package (especially if they are still full). These pouches become empty over time and eventually after all the dry ice they contain has evaporated, they are left empty (this is normal).
How to handle a package that contains dry ice:
Use gloves or a towel because they are really cold.
If the sachets are full, the dry ice will evaporate (turn to gas).
Avoid contact with your eyes and mouth.
Dry ice sachets can be really cold and cause irritation.
Benefits of Using Dry Ice
Unlike ice packs, which can only keep your products frozen for a few hours, dry ice can maintain the necessary temperature for up to 48-72 hours. This extended cooling time is particularly important for long-distance shipping or delayed shipments, as it ensures that your frozen goods will arrive at your doorstep as frozen as they were when they left our warehouse.
We've run extensive temperature tests to ensure that our dry ice packaging can maintain a consistent temperature throughout the entire shipping process. Our packaging has been designed to prevent any heat transfer from the outside environment, so you can rest assured that your frozen products will arrive in the best possible condition. That is why you will find in your package special thermal insulation blankets.
At Bakaliko, we take pride in the quality of our products and the care we take in shipping them to you. By using dry ice to keep your frozen food orders fresh, we can ensure that your products arrive in the best possible condition. If you have any questions about our shipping process or how to handle a package that contains dry ice, please don't hesitate to contact us. We're always happy to help!
