Melomakaronas are a traditional Greek Christmas delicacy that are considered to have originated in ancient Phoenicia. Honey, orange zest, cinnamon, olive oil, and occasionally cognac are used to flavor these wonderful semolina biscuits.

Melomakarona cookies are dipped in honey syrup and dusted with crushed walnuts just after baking. Although some say that another Greek delicacy known as finikia refers to a somewhat distinct dish that is sometimes fried and served without walnuts, the terms are now interchangeable.
